How I Got Dupe in Sango Ota

I am a student of University of Benin, I stay in the west but I've only been to Lagos twice. I applied for a scholarship (Ajoke Christian foundation scholarship) last year September and got shortlisted for the exam. I won and I was called for the award ceremony on the Saturday, 21st of December. During the award, each candidate from University was given a cheque of #50,000. I needed to go back to Ilara mokin, Ondo state the second day to felicitate the Yuletide period with my family.

Because I had to stay for more than 24hrs for the award, I stayed with a friend in Sango ota, Lagos State. Sango shared a boundary with Lagos State. The ceremony took place at Abule-Egba which is just like 30mins journey from Sango ota. I decided to leave the other day (Sunday). I went to Dalemo side in ota, ogun state to withdraw and I saw a zenith Bank with no much queue. I decided to join the queue. I withdrew the last 2k I was having in my account to get myself home with a 400 I had on me.

I withdrew and I couldn't get bus on time. I was then walking down when I saw a guy approach me. He asked me if I know where he can sell a statue (deity), he brought the statue out to show me. I told him I don't know, I then left him. As I walked down, I saw a guy who approached me and told me that we should help the guy that he wants to sell something and he might not want to trust him. But seeing me as a student and on glasses might at least make him calm down. I then agreed to help. We went to meet the guy again and he thanked us, promised to give us 10% of the money he's going to get from it. We then took the same bike, the three of us and alighted somewhere, we just saw this middle aged man (the guy called him baba) coming out of a street like that. The guy then said he's the one we are going to meet that someone wants to sell good.

Baba then asked that the poor guy should show him the statue. He did, the baba exclaimed and was like haaa, the guy should not lie that the deity killed his father and it's still the reason why his mother is so sick. He said right now, he and all of us will be sick too unless we perform so rites. He said we should follow him. Then we did. When we got somewhere, he said we are about to enter the holy place, we should drop everything on us that has to do with money, phones, ATM card and say our pin three times on the card silently, cheque, laptop etc and we are going to get it after the rites. He said if we don't do it, we are going to lose the person we love most. I saw the other guys dropping their stuffs, I then dropped mine, after saying my pin silently to my ATM card three time. I dropped my itel phone (had my Samsung Galaxy in my pocket, but my mind didn't go there), ATM card and all my money (remembered the cheque but no way). He then said we have to buy salt. He gave us money to buy salt (#200) out of his own money. He told us to get it from different places.

We went out separately to get the salt. The guy tried to gimme the #200 to buy the salt. I told them no oo, all of us are buying the salt, they should only give me #50 to get my own salt. That was how I was looking for salt and we took different parts. I later got to salt and went back to look for the baba. Baba has disappeared. That was how I was scammed.

I went to the nearest church, spoke with the pastor and he gave me money to get back to where I stayed in ota, explained everything to them and they gave me money to get home the second day after so much laughter.
