Ibrahim Magu: President Buhari suspends all top EFCC officials.
President Muhammadu Buhari has suspended over 10 senior officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, according to PM News.
PM News quoted a presidency source on Tuesday night as saying that the Commission’s executive Secretary Olanipekun Olukoyede was among the senior officials suspended by President Buhari.
“They were suspended for various alleged criminal and corrupt infractions,” the source said.
They were suspended to allow for unfettered investigation of the various corruption allegations rocking the anti-graft commission.
The source added that “All the top officials in the agency have been suspended, their offices locked, to prevent any tampering with files at the commission.”
Ibrahim Magu, who acted as the EFCC Chairman, was suspended by President Buhari last week and the director of operations, Mohammed Umar Abba, was asked to replace him.
The newspaper’s source said that the new acting Chairman survived suspension, because he was found not to be a part of the suspected underhand dealings in the agency.
NDDC: Buhari told to sack all board members.
Itse Sagay, Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC), has told President Muhammadu Buhari to dissolve the current board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Professor Sagay made this call when he appeared on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, asking for fresh members to be injected into the board.
This is in view of allegations and counter allegations of corruption rocking the commission.
“I will suggest that everybody there should be cleared out and the President should not appoint a new set of people very quickly under temporary conditions so that a permanent board and management can be established in the place that will then be monitored.
“My view is that everybody should be removed right now. Clear the place, sweep it clean. Start afresh with a new set of people,” he said.
Sagay described the allegations coming from the Commission as mind-boggling, wondering why forensic auditing cannot be done despite having a regular board manning the affairs of the affairs.
He recalled that he was against the character of two nominees when some appointments were made into the commission.
Recall that the 2019 budget defence of the Commission by the agency’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) suffered a setback.
The acting Managing Director, MD, of the NDDC IMC, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei and the Executive Director (Project), Dr Cairo Ojougboh, among others appeared before the National Assembly in Abuja during the week but could not successfully defend the agency’s 2019 budget as the lawmakers pointed out some discrepancies in the budget.

Osimhen set to become Africa’s costliest footballer.
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, is set to become Africa’s costliest footballer, with a reported €81m (£73.6m) move from French Ligue 1 side Lille to Serie A giants Napoli.
The deal is expected to be finalised on Thursday, with both clubs reportedly reaching agreement for the young forward.
If the deal falls through, Osimhen will eclipse Nicolas Pepe’s record, when he moved from Lille to Arsenal for £72m last summer.
According to L’Equipe, the Eagles star could complete his move to the side on Thursday.
Reports say the change of agents by the Nigerian delayed his transfer to the Italian side, but is now set to go through.
Osimhen’s agent, Stanley Okolo, had last week said the striker was considering Napoli’s offer and would make his decision soon.
“I read in some media that Victor has already rejected Napoli, but that is absolutely not true. I don’t understand where some information come from. The lad just asked for a little more time, the negotiations continue every day. He is just trying to make the decision that is right for him,” Okolo told Radio Punto Nuovo.
