1. Amotekun: Criminals will no longer trouble our calm water — Akeredolu
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Tuesday assured the people of the state that criminal elements will no longer trouble the relative peace enjoyed in the state with the take-off of the State Security Network Agency known as Amotekun Corps.
Akeredolu noted that with a workable synergy among the leadership of the security agencies and that of Amotekun, a water-tight strategy capable of arresting crimes even before they occur would be deployed.
Akeredolu recalled that when the Amotekun Corps was launched in Ibadan in January this year, many people felt he was putting his second term ambition on the line.
”And I told them, time and again, that my ambition is not worth the insecurities that our people are confronted with, where at some point, people were afraid of travelling out of the State.

In a raise the bar in the fight against insurgency, more weapons and fighter aircraft are being imported, President Muhammadu Buhari told governors on Tuesday.
According to him, the military hardware are being imported from the United States, China and Jordan.
But the President called on Nigerians to be patient before the new equipment could be deployed because of the need to train the pilots who will fly the fighter jets.
Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar gave a hint last week in Kainji, Niger State when he said 12 Super Tucano jets were coming from the United States to join the fleet of the Air Force.
President Buhari met with the Security Committee of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) at the Villa Council Chambers. With him were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and heads of security and intelligence agencies.

4. Former Ekiti Governor, Fayose, Vows To Jail Ex-President Obasanjo If He Becomes Nigeria’s President
Ayodele Fayose, Former Governor of Ekiti State, has said that he would send ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo back to prison if he had the opportunity to become President of Nigeria.
Fayose said this during an interview with PlusTV.
He said the former President has been making hate speech and the present administration should make him face the law.
He said, “Let me tell you, Obasanjo has made hate speech and should be brought to book by this government.
“I pray one day I will become President of this country by God’s grace. Obasanjo will go back to prison.
“I am telling you the truth because there are so many things Obasanjo must be questioned about.
“Obasanjo is not a saint. When he came out of prison, his farm at Ota was in shambles. But, today, it is back to life.
“Where did the money for resuscitating the once ailing farm come from? It was from the government.
“For the library, all governors at that time contributed N10m each to support Obasanjo by force.
“The third term is still fresh in our memory. So, baba should stop telling us he is a saint.”
The former Ekiti governor also chided Obasanjo for his comments on late Buruji Kashamu, saying he had paid his own dues and spent his time on earth.
“No court convicted him and he left and departed the world. Everybody will have an end. Let’s wait and see how Obasanjo will end,” he added.
